With 1700 years of background history, seven continents, and over 20 playable races, Wealdendun is a complete fantasy world RPG experience. Unlike other worlds, where the excitement was in the past, even 'today' Wealdendun battles evil and fights for the future. With magic, swords, and shields the world of Wealdendun comes alive with elves, dragons, mortals, faeries, wolven changelings and more. Unlike other worlds, dragons do not just breathe fire - some control decay, ice, or healing among others. And unlike other stories, faeries are not small but are a cross between elf and dragon. One of the last remaining Ieldran, the twelve elves granted powers no others have, Natulcien works to save Wealdendun from the forces of Genipan, another Ieldran once thought dead. Those of the light and those of the dark continually battle as this story continues through the site's members and their interactions.

Fallen Warriors Tournament
About
General The Fallen Warriors Tournament is a forum-wide competition in RP format to celebrate the anniversary of our Wealdendun forum. December 11th, 2008 marked our 5th Anniversary, a great milestone that deserves celebration. With the input of some members, Natulcien has decided to create a Tournament, much like the traditional Medieval Tournaments of Champions, with a Wealdendun flare as our form of great celebration. Although the posts will be made in-character, much of the content will not have to fit current RP stories nor will it be adopted into future stories. This is fun RP, but without contingency and location strings attached.
Threads This main thread serves as a general area for the competitors to meet, look at results from different competitions, and role-play beyond the battle grounds, but still pertaining to the Fallen Warriors Tournament. Other separate threads are named with the specific competition as the title for ease of finding the correct competition thread.
Location The Fallen Warriors Tournament is held in two locations. Most of the competition takes place near the Hilderin Barracks, which are located west of Tir Rathon between the Mortal city and the Elid Caliþ Province. Other parts will take place just outside of the Elid Caliþ Province. Two of the competitions will encompass more areas of Wealdendun for the specific tournament. For ease of locating these threads, a special sub-board has been created to host all threads.
History This tournament is dedicated to all the warriors, past and present, who have lost their lives in battle. It is dedicated to Kings and bards alike, even those marked as Shadow Dwellers for the lives of those who could be redeemed are still heralded as fallen warriors.
But above all of this, the tournament is dedicated to those members who no longer RP with us. Specifically the ones who have officially retired from the site, having submitted their letters of resignation. Zhoan, Leofa, Ariel - this tournament is conducted in the honor of your names.
Day Two Hilderin Obstacle Course 07:00 - Tir Rathon Easta Trail Measurement of Strength Competition 12:00 - Hilderin Barracks Battle of Wits' End 14:00 -Elid Caliþ Province
Day Four Tyne River Race 07:00 (All day) - Begins outside of Tir Rathon
Day Five Team Knowledge Hunt 07:00 - Hilderin Barracks Partner Jousting 09:00 - Hilderin Barracks Market Menagerie 11:00 - Elid Caliþ Province Hunting of the Boar 15:00 - Forest of Tir Rathon
Rules/Guidelines 1 - All posts must be in-character, although the posting character minimum is lowered to 200 characters or 50 words. Longer posts are encouraged for more in depth fun, but not required so as to allow those with small amounts of time to make more posts.
2 - Keep everything as Wealdendun-related as possible. However, your topics do not have to fit into the current, past, or future RP plots found throughout the forum. If your character is currently out at sea in a thread, for this tournament your character will be here without having to worry about making the appearance plausible for the other thread or worrying about being in two places at once. This is a stand-alone RP area.
3 - There is not a limit as to how many competitions you can enter. Each competition occurs at a different time, in RP, enabling your character to appear at more than one (or even all) of the available competitions. The days and times listed above exist to help you write about when your tournament is occurring, but RP in these competitions is simultaneously here in the real world.
4 - You do not have to sign up to play in any of the competitions. Assume that the entry has already been approved, and arrive at the thread you wish to RP in - then begin RPing!
5 - Depending on what the challenge is, the winner will be chosen by various means. Some challenges will have an RP aspect - meaning that I will watch the way each character pushes the plot of the challenge and determine the best RPer. Others will be a random selection, while others still will be on a first-to-find schedule. Please read the first page of each competition thread to see more information on the specific means of determining a winner, plus other useful information.
Awards Winners of each competition will be awarded a small trophy as well as a prize. A tournament champion will be named, given to the person with the most competition trophies. In the event of a tie, the mods and admins will make the decision. All of the winners will sit near Natulcien at the ball following the tournament, and will receive their prizes there.
Closing Remarks Many thanks to all of our members for sticking with us for so long, and thank you to all the new members who keep this place fresh. Thank you for giving us five great years. Here's to even more RP fun!

Jyr looked at the parchment stuck to the big oak she had come across. She looked around then, checked that there were, indeed, signs of a camp or something similar, and read the parchment carefully. It looked like a menu, only instead of meals there were activities. Most looked unfamiliar to her. She had never seen anything like that. Tilting her head in wonder, she went on reading. There were all sorts of things going on. She grimaced at the words “Magical Duels” and wondered about the Contest of the Bards. There were races too, and a boar hunting. Ah, that sounded interesting. And the Market Menagerie… what the heck was that? She would have to ask.
With shy, soundless steps, she walked towards the civilised area, expecting to find somebody who would be responsible for all those events and could tell her more about them. And possibly where she could purchase some dinner.

Natulcien hurried out of the Hilderin Barracks in a pace most often not seen executed by her. Moving fast enough to cause her cloak to continually flare out behind her, catching an interpretable wind, the Queen of the Elves still maintained her infamous grace and to one not fully paying attention she would have seemed to be moving no faster than her usual pace.
But Natulcien was very busy organizing all of the events for the Fallen Warriors Tournament. In her arms she held a stack of parchment to be used in the various competitions for score keeping - she needed to get these vital items to the first competitions at least, if not to every game master of the entire week.
It was as she was making her way toward the area her game masters would be gathered that she noticed a female with the tell-tale face of one needing information. Pausing her fast walk, Natulcien addressed Jyr.
"Is there something I could help you with?" She asked with a pleasant smile.

Jyr turned to the voice, which belonged to an elven lady such as she had never seen before –not that she had seen many elves up to then, but still… Her ears were longer, and her body was too. That did not tell her anything, since she did not know much about Ieldran She could only see that, even though she might have been the same age as Jyr, she looked very sophisticate to her, and waited for her answer with a kind smile.
To be honest , Jyr did not know what she actually wanted. She felt rather lost, out of her depth, and afraid that she might do something improper. But she felt lonely too, and the area looked inviting. Perhaps she might enjoy the company of others for some time. After all, the site of a festival was not likely to become a dangerous scenery. She returned the smile shyly.
“I was wondering about all those events,” she said, “and hoping to find a market. Is there always so much to do around here?”
She had added the market thing because there was one mentioned in the parchment. Markets were always busy and crowded, but in an anonymous way. If you were an outsider people did not stop you to have a chat and, even if you were noticed, others were just too busy to wonder about a stranger shopping around. So she began to form a plan in her mind. She imagined herself buying some local food, looking around, perhaps discovering what all those things from the parchment were, maybe see some of the competitions, definitely stay away from the magical duels, and depart later, refreshed both in body and spirit, to resume her journey. It sounded to her like a simple, attractive way of spending the day.

"A market?" Asked Morgensweg as she passed by on her way to meet the other game masters. "The two nearest would be in Elid Caliþ Province, as well as in Tir Rathon. If you are ravished for food, I dare say you would starve before you reached either," her last comment delivered with a slight laugh.
"The Barrack's kitchen will be preparing meals throughout the day, and on through the week of events." Morgensweg did not know Jyr was referencing the market in response to the tournament listed on the official sheet. As such, she was only trying to help someone who might be on the hungry side.
"My appologies," Morgensweg quickly said to Natulcien with a slight bow of her head, realizing she had jumped into the conversation, "I have intruded." She waited for an indication to continue.
"I will be running the Swordfighting competition, if you are interested - I'd love to have you there. Otherwise, I may see you as a fellow competitor elsewhere." She smiled, waiting respectfully so that either of the two ladies could continue conversing with her. There was nothing Morgensweg hated worse about conversations than someone who passed through and didn't bother to stick around.

Jyr smiled too and thanked the newly arrived lady for the information, although kept on wondering about the market of the list.
“I am afraid I am not very skilled with swords,” she said. Now that was what she called an overstatement. She rarely used a sword, her weapon of preference being her hunting knife, which served her well as a multipurpose tool and never let her down. “But I may go and have a look. I am sure the fights will be interesting.”
Even if they were just for show, they would teach her things about the people of this country. The general fighting style was a good thing to know more or less, just in case. She figured something like a graceful dance, as she had seen on the boat when some of the team members faked a short fight to kill time. But even she could say that had had a lot of farce and not so many real fighting movements in it.
“I will see to the boar hunt too. That is something I can do, so maybe I’ll be allowed to participate.”
Unconsciously, she scratched the tip of her nose, nervous. She hadn’t meant to sound lacking in confidence, but couldn’t help it, feeling still so alien, so deep in unknown waters. When she realised what she was doing, she lowered her hand and her gaze, lifted her eyes again promptly cursing herself for this third blunder and looked directly into the second lady’s eyes.

She listened patiently, not minding in the least that Morgensweg had stopped to make this newcomer feel welcome. She smiled her thanks to the Captain of the Hilderin, and addressed Jyr directly.
“The Hilderin Barracks can always been deemed a busy place, but never quite like this. You have stumbled upon our special event we are calling the Fallen Warriors Tournament. It is a celebration of the warriors, past and present, who have ever walked this great world. I would be happy to explain any of the competitions to you. Certainly you read about the Market Menagerie as you inquired about a market. Morgensweg is right about the locations, but this particular competition is held in the Elid Province – if you wish to go and do not own a horse, wagons leave every twenty minutes.”
Natulcien listened to Jyr’s comments concerning Morgensweg’s competition, fully understanding that not everyone was skilled with the blade – hardly any as skilled as the talents of Morgensweg. Natulcien felt Jyr was having a bit of trouble finding something she would do well at. She continued.
“I am sure we can find something you would like to participate in. Even if you do not wish to make the kill of the boar, scouts are always needed to keep any eye out for the creature and its dangerous tusks when provoked. To have fun, one doesn't always have to be the best at a task.
Do you enjoy poetry, or tales? There is a contest for that. What about stamina and long distance running, or boat racing? We have almost every type of competition imaginable.” Natulcien laughed, smiling into the rising sun as the morning stretched further in time.
“Which brings me back to the market. Our competition, the Market Menagerie, is a unique one indeed. Each contestant is given a sum of money to spend in the market. The Game Master declares the theme of the contest, and each person buys items to create an object in that theme. Such things as attire, paintings, statues, food, etc are examples and the them can be anything specific or vague, such as love or Meotod. There is a time limit for the creation of such things, and the item must be created within the market and carried safely back to the judging area. It is really a matter of using one’s time wisely and coming up with something unique.
Are there any other events I could explain to you?"

“It sounds great!” said Jyr, beginning to feel excited with the prospect of the events. Now she was happy to have stopped by. “I am no good at poetry, but I’d love to see it all, hear the contestants’ poems, try the market thing and the hunt, and see others taking part in the competitions, and… well, everything. I guess if I manage my time well I’ll be able to look around and still be there in time for the things I want to do. Thank you very much for the information.”
She curtsied slightly, the way her father had taught her. Showing respect, not submission, and especially showing her salutation of gratitude was not a mere perfunctory movement.
