With 1700 years of background history, seven continents, and over 20 playable races, Wealdendun is a complete fantasy world RPG experience. Unlike other worlds, where the excitement was in the past, even 'today' Wealdendun battles evil and fights for the future. With magic, swords, and shields the world of Wealdendun comes alive with elves, dragons, mortals, faeries, wolven changelings and more. Unlike other worlds, dragons do not just breathe fire - some control decay, ice, or healing among others. And unlike other stories, faeries are not small but are a cross between elf and dragon. One of the last remaining Ieldran, the twelve elves granted powers no others have, Natulcien works to save Wealdendun from the forces of Genipan, another Ieldran once thought dead. Those of the light and those of the dark continually battle as this story continues through the site's members and their interactions.

Elven Archery Contest
The Archery Contest is one that has been conducted for many, many years. As tradition holds, most Archery contests are elf-exclusive, except for special events such as the Fallen Warriors Tournament.
Because the elven archers are most skilled in the ways of the bow, and because it is one of their race's most recognizable attribute, they requested that this particular contest be held in the land of Rurisk. With the Elid Caliþ Province being the closest to the Hilderin Barracks and Tir Rathon, it was decided that the Archery Contest would be held in this city of white and yellow stone.
Mortals should feel more comfortable here, where the buildings are crafted with more Tir Rathon influenced, than the city of Rurisk filled with the elaborate designs of the elves. The entire city is void of all colors save the yellow and white tints from the stone of the tall and thin buildings. Most of the elves here have strikingly pale skin and ivory hair, blending into their city. The only foliage comes from the surrounding forest.
The contest is conducted in a park-like area at the center of the city. It is an area much like the surrounding forest, but used for relaxation and entertainment when venturing out into the forest is not desired. For this day, the area has been transformed for the archery contest.
Waverly Foremihtig will be resident master of the contest, instructing the competitors and keeping all issues resolved. Please follow his rules, regulations, and watch for his posts that govern key points to the contest.
Posting may begin. Please assume your character knows how to reach the garden square and do not waste RP posts with asking the citizens for directions etc. You may start with general arriving to the contest type posts until Waverly posts the beginning of the competition.

Malluni breathed in the fresh air as she made her way through the city towards the Garden Square. She had been excited to find where the Archery contest was being held as she had not been in this Provence in many many years, she was happy for the opportunity to re familiarize herself with the yellow and white stone that was provided for much of the cities buildings.
Finally reaching the table to register for the contest she signed up but frowned at the lack of listed participants. Writing her name down she smiled at the overseer commented on the weather then left to sit in the shade of a small tree a short distance away. Malluni sat cross legged in the thick grass and brought her quiver to her lap and began inspecting her hand made arrows that she had carved out of this particular Pendrabeam tree near Holt Hlynn. She had also brought with her a bow she had made out of Birch while she still lived in the Glades, and her Sylvan bow that had been given to her by the Sylvan elves again made from the Pendrabeam.
Carefully looking her possessions up and down she waited for her competitors.

"How many thus far?" Waverly asked Dholas, the youngest son of Nicolaug Guard of the City, who was helping him with the competition.
"Not too many - yet," was his reply as he handed Waverly the sign-in sheet, "but I am sure there will be more as the time draws closer."
"Indeed," the Archery Master of Rurisk replied as he studied the names. "Ah. Malluni. What a welcomed surprise. If you will excuse me," Waverly handed the sheet back to Dholas and continued down a white-stone path to the area designated for the contest.
"Wenra, Malluni Edhel. It has been many rises and falls of the suns since I last saw you. I hope you have continued perfecting the form I showed you in your days of training. Though, I would not wish to be your fellow competitors if you have." He laughed merrily. "You always showed a great strength with the lutalim."

Malluni had been watching those gathering on the other side of the Square for the Bards contest. She had no talent for it, her every attempt at poetry ended in an embarrassing failure, besides her singing, the only other talents she had was with the weapons she trained with. Whether it be the blade or bow, she excelled at both but her love for Archery and Throwing Knives outweighed that of the sword. Thus her reasoning in joining the Archery Contest, she had to put her training into something other then war!
She was musing over this when she heard light footsteps coming her way, "Wenra, Malluni Edhel..."
Malluni sprang up and gave the Elf a hug, "Master Waverly! I am so glad to see you! Indeed, it has been to long." She stepped back a few steps and smiled. "I am sure that at least some of my competitors practice as much as I." Malluni winked her green eyes. "Will you be Resident Master here at the contest? Don't go easy on me now!"

Ayorah had thought about whether he'd enter the competition or not. His skill with the bow was adequate, but he was no master by anyone's reckoning. Besides, he preferred the crossbow, and he doubted the elves would allow him to use such a weapon. However, that day's interesting competition didn't start until 4 hours afterward, and he needed to warm up beforehand, so he decided he might as well. During the way to the competition he even entertained hopes of doing well in the competition, imagining himself hitting a tiny target from an impossible distance, defeating the elves at their own game.
As he arrived in the forest, however, he was suddenly disheartened. He saw the few participants who had already arrived, and he saw their bows, all of elven make. Some were more ornate, others more rugged, but the truth was all of them seemed of a more skilled craftsmanship than his own plain oaken bow. His metallic crossbow was better, but still paled in comparison to the works of art some of his rivals would be using. From what he saw, they seemed to be very adept at shooting, too. His only hope now was that his superior strength and reinforced bow meant he could take direct shots at longer distances, not having to rely as much on parabolae. But this was a sketchy hope at best, he admitted to himself as he found a suitable spot in the forest to unload his gear and begin some last-minute practice.
"We are chaos in motion, swirling blades in a maelstrom of death. We are they who will remain when the cities of elf and man fall to ruins, and they who will raise their swords in their names when the time comes. Until then.. we do the same, for money."

Maléfactora descended, the air gently fluttering through her raven-feather wings, into the elven city's forest below. She held her cross bow in her pale blue-tinted arms clutched to her green black dress with long hanging sleeves that would have touched her ankles had they not been fluttering behind her.
She landed softly next to Ayorah, her toes pointed down like a graceful sky-dancer, with her head held high with a tint of arrogance. Her hair had not changed much, as her wings had, after Genipan's enchantment. She still had blue and lavender hair, though it was much longer now, and her eyes were as dark as ebony like always. She had always looked like an odd faery, but now she seemed a completely new type of creature.
She regarded Ayorah with barely contained disdain. She hated having to compete with the light-dwellers, but this competition was for all of Wealdendun. She tried to set aside her feelings for the time being, for a bit of friendly competition. She could kill them all after the Tournament - there was plenty of time.
"I much prefer the power of a cross-bow to the weak finesse required of those bent branches the elves wave around." She commented to Ayorah with a voice more rough than feminine. "Wouldn't you agree?"

"Indeed," the human answered, casually glancing towards her and nodding. "Why these beings insist on clinging to tradition when invention surpasses it, I will never know"
As he spoke, he opened a hefty-looking bag he had carried into the forest, and began to take out bolts and arrows, each of which he checked with painstaking rigour, casting away those with even minor imperfections. The remainder he set aside, distributing them among a series of quivers, arranging them in groups of different fletching, arrowhead or length. He didn't think he'd need such variety, but it was better to have it and not need it than the other way around.
Meanwhile, in his mind, he was pondering this new arrival. She was definitely a strange one... She looked somewhat like a faerie, but her wings were different, and she had an odd way about her. Ayorah felt he should somehow know who this was, but could only draw a blank. No matter, this was a friendly competition, so he would focus merely on his own performance. Nevertheless, he thought it prudent to keep an eye on this one.

"Will you be Resident Master here at the contest? Don't go easy on me now!"
Waverly laughed. "Quite the opposite. As a former student of mine you will receive twice the criticism." He winked at Malluni. "No, everything will be judged impartially, have no qualms about that. And of course I will be Resident Master of the Archery Contest. That is a very odd question. It is almost like asking, 'Will you, the Archery Master of Rurisk and all of the elves, be the Master of the tournament - or will you be sitting this one out?' "
Waverly laughed again and put his arm around Malluni's shoulder. His pleasant teasing came from being part human, he was sure, but his sense of companionship was definitely elven.
"I think you have spent too much time around wizards and mortals - their joy in stating the complete obvious has rubbed off on you." He clapped her on the back then began to move away.
"I must take my leave of you. The tournament will start very soon."
Waverly took his leave and moved to a central position to make his announcement to the other archers in the area.
-------------- It was nearing 07:00 on the first day of the Fallen Warriors Tournament. Some were not used to being awake this earlier, it was clear from their bleary eyes. Waverly addressed the crowd.
"The first part of the tournament is for Longbows only. Those of you who will be using Crossbows may continue to practice as needed.
I will confess that this competition will not be easy, and some tasks may seem incredibly out of your league. Attempt them anyway as this competition is designed to be fun as well as technique-stimulating.
If the Longbows would follow me please." Waverly turned and began to walk up a slightly inclined path through the park-like trees.

Waving at Dholas as she jogged down the path, deeper into the Garden Square, Morgensweg hurried to where the competition would begin. She had not meant to run late, but she had needed to tend to a few things at the barracks before heading the elven province, and, well, time had gotten away from her this morning.
Bow draped over her shoulder, quiver bouncing lightly on her back, she rounded a tree and caught sight of her friend and fellow warrioress, Malluni. Morgensweg smiled, her lavendar eyes lighting up, and jogged faster to catch up to her. The bow she carried was pure white, made of the same blesséd tree as Malluni's bow, the Pendrabeam. Waverly, Morgensweg's uncle, had carved it recently for her and it was decorated with fantastic swirls and stars. Morgensweg's strong point had always been the sword, despite her uncle being the Archery Master of Rurisk. She hoped she would not disappoint him.
"Ieti, Malluni!" She called out as she drew closer, then slowed down as she came beside her. Slightly out of breath she smiled and spoke to her friend again.
"It is a fine morning, though I'm not so sure the winds favor my arrows," she laughed. "How are you, well I hope? I must say, I am not at all surprise to see you here. Have you come to show my uncle that at least one of us turned out to be a fair shot?" Morgensweg laughed again as she removed her white bow from her shoulder.

Master Waverly clapped her on the shoulder and Malluni laughed at his words. "Times like these I remember and miss my time taking lessons from you. But my that was some time ago!" They walked a little further before Master Waverly had to leave to make his announcements. Smiling Malluni watched him go, "Ieti, Malluni!" her smile widened when she turned to see who called.
"Ah, Captain Morgensweg! Dear friend!" She gave a quick formal nod of greeting, "I admit though that I am a little surprised to see you here. But the friendly competition is always welcome!" Malluni gave her friend a playful wink.
She started walking forward and motioned for Morgensweg to follow, "Come! I do believe your uncle has just called for the long bows! Ready to see how well we do?" So together they made their way down the path with the other long bow competitors began to gather for the beginning of the competition.

A young woman of about the age of 17 runs up to the field, bow and quiver in hand, where the longbow competition is being held, slightly flustered, red in the face and out of breath. She slows when she sees the assembled group, already seeming to be comfortable with one another and themselves and thinks "This is going to be harder then anticipated. Maybe a public event wasn't the best time to announce myself to the world. Oh well, to late now." She takes a deep breath.
"Hello." She takes another long breath and pushes a wisp of long brown hair out of her eyes and face. "I am Adelle Tonalsin. Am I too late for the contest?"
She pauses a moment and then flashes a very quick, very small, tentative smile and waits for the others to question her and her sudden arrival to the contest.

"Ah, of course," Maléfactora commented with bitter sarcasm, "the longbows go first. Tradition and all of that boar dung on a stick." Drawing an arrow from her back she placed it on her crossbow and pulled the loading string back. Bracing the back end of her crossbow against her shoulder and slightly under her chin like an odd parody of a musical instrument, Maléfactora looked across teeth-like ornamented end and pulled the trigger-like lever to release the arrow. It stuck unceremoniously into the bale of hay at the end of the practice range and she frowned. Lowering herself to the ground, Maléfactora began to make minute adjustments to the trajectory and string area of her weapon. "I'm going to kill my repairsmith after this tournament is over," she muttered to herself.

"As is tradition," announced Waverly, "the first long bow competition will be that of the five-level target. Each contestant will climb down to the bottom of this hill," here, Waverly motioned with his left hand, " and take aim at the circular targets through the sparse trees which hang in branches 200 yards back up and to the east of this hill. The outer ring of the target will be worth 5 points, the next ten, the next 20, the next 30, and the center area 50. You will have ten arrows to use, but once you pick a target and make contact you can only shoot at that target for the rest of your arrows. Choose wisely as some are in more tricky areas than others."
With a smile, Waverly concluded his instructions and signaled that Malluni was to be the first to tackle the task.
Post all of the details of your shots, etc, and I will reply with which ones hit where. This will be determined by what type/position the target is that you pick, and a small program for randomly picking the hit levels (made by Natulcien).

Unless Waverly makes an announcement that the first task is over, and the next is beginning, they will always have room for you!))
