A figure stood not too far away from Dyra, leaning against the cold outer wall of a shop in the square, watching with tear-rimmed eyes as the girl read the poster. Bound tightly with twine a bundle of posters were clutched in her hand, ready to be nailed in the various cities and their respective squares and halls.
It saddened her to have to tell the citizens of Eorð Foldé that the end was upon them. Nydelid, the jumping sun, had refused to appear in over six months leaving Elid alone to light the world. How would the world survive with only one sun. Indeed, Dyra's question was what everyone should be thinking - now what?
"Now, we survive," she spoke out, loud enough to be heard but no further effort, "somehow, we survive." Her voice threatened to crack with emotion and pulling her hood tighter beneath her chin Natulcien attempted to hide who she was. Her cloak was not blue, but rather a medium grey, and the only sign that she was the Queen of the Elves would be a stray lock of hair or the grace with which she walked away. Slightly bent over with the cold and the weight of the news, still she processed Ieldranic characteristics that could not be easily left behind. She left Dyra then, turning away from the square to carry her news elsewhere.

Dyra looked around the quiet square, uncertain what her course of action should be. She'd heard the news, she'd read the posters plastering everything that they could...and she wasn't sure how it had happened. This world was dying? She looked at the sun, still shining brilliantly above her, although the cold air made it appear a bit more pale than the norm, and shook her cloak out, watching as ice shards scattered at her feet. She had been....in another place, before this. With someone, but it had all just shifted, and here she stood, reading the posters with a cool sick dread in her heart.
She hadn't found any other than herself, though she'd trailed through a few of the roads that encompassed the square that she was pondering in. Her breath cold, frozen on the air, she looked at the perfect white of the snow around her, and then back to the sheet of colored paper that she hadn't been able to let go, yet. "The End Of The World!!" and below that "And This Time We Mean It!!" and felt the chill she was trying to surpress shudder up her spine.
"Well...now what?" She asked as she looked out at the frozen landscape...

I know this place can be quite the release from the world for many people. I've decided to keep open threads for games as well as the Fallen Warriors Tournament for the chance some people still want to RP or have fun with each other. But as for me, do not expect me to be RPing, which also means those threads may never get off the ground with me retiring *shrug*. And the main plots will close, as like I said earlier, they practically depend on various characters of mine and I have no drive to keep them going. Eventually the entire place will close down, but I'll leave it open for those people to still RP if they want to in the places that don't depend on me or the main story.

Natulcien,
I do believe either you need to email/pm this to everyone, or as a closure for the site a final letter that briefly recaps as well as talks about a couple of other things.
For myself to say, I won't lie, it's been fun. It's been and still is one of the best outlets I was allowed to be apart, as well as finally getting to story write with whom I think is one of my personal favorite writers. Naturally we will still be writing until we are satisfied.
One thing I hope to create is a Wealdendun website with information and story ideas to serve for Natulcien and I to exchange and create, as well as keep up to date the news of Wealdendun. Down the road, when the Canon is complete, other Wealdendun websites will be created by our fans as well as our friends that we've known since the site had started.
In general, as fun as a fantasy world is, it shouldn't take the place of real life, and you will find people like us walking around you all, so don't feel like you are the only ones into this, but know there is a time to enjoy what a fantasy world has to offer, so long as you understand you live in reality.
And for you writers out there, as it is a personal dream to be able to write as well, keep writing! Create your own worlds! Etc! And remember Natulcien and I when you become rich and famous!

Nat, I am so sorry that Wealdendun has become a source of stress and anxiety. I had no idea how many characters you played! And especially Nihtleoð and Gwendolyn! They both won different site awards and I would have never guessed that you were behind them.
I am deeply saddened by this news, and I can only repeat how sorry I am that this caused you so much stress. I understand why you didn't want to start over now. I hope you keep this open so that we can occasionally come by and just say hello. Feel free to say hi to me on yahoo anytime guys!

Wealdendun has become more of a burden than a joy of late. And actually by "of late" I mean over the last 365 days or longer. Many of you have been around when I have had to send out my monthly "please return to us" emails, urging members to rejoin the current plots. I went so far as to make a monthly newsletter, summarizing events, foreshadowing new ones, asking for help, and adding odd tid-bits - all to keep everyone interested. I created a new area that did not require any time-line events (the Fallen Warriors Tournament) in hopes to grab new and old members into fun RPs that did not require the length of posts or the cohesive not-in-many-places-at-once forum rule. I created Member of the Month awards, hoping to motivate others to be the best forum member possible. In all attempts my effforts have failed.
It is so very frustrating to have to pull at hair and teeth to keep this site alive. It becomes, quite literally, a burden and zaps all of my creative energy. When I only have so much time, being a college student or a full-time employee, and with most of my time devoted to Admin duties, it leaves very little for me to actually write. I have Moderators to help me, but they have lives as well - I understand this fully and do not blame you, who I love. But as a collective, we must be honest with each other - when we aren't around the site gathers dust.
In the beginning, Zal/Zhoan and I quite literally ran everything. To keep members interested, we introduced minor characters hoping to spur creativity, keep people interested, motivate them to continue to return. Plus, with Wealdendun as complex as it is, when a new Bard joins, Natulcien can't always be there to RP - when there are no bards, that poor new member needs a place to RP. But our ideas failed - in the sense that the new members weren't able to go off on their own as we had planned. In fact, they depended on our posts, using our creativity as the corner stone for the RPs. Then what happened? It would have been nice to say that the RPs continued beautifully, but more often than not they fizzled out and died without conclusion. I am speaking of the earlier days, when Zal/Zhoan was a super active member. We, in the end, quite literally RPed with ourselves. More to be revealed in a moment.
Lately, I tried to join a few RPs with my alternate characters, but in a manner to spark interest rather than control. But again, I wound up leading the RP - with all RPs depending on me, can you image the amount of effort, time, and stress this involves? I can, without a doubt, say that in the past 9 months no more than three threads did not depend on me. I am sorry I let you down. But I tried to fizzle some out - but people need other people to RP with! And it is sad to see a new faery all alone, or a new dragon with no one to chase.
In the beginning was Natulcien. Shortly after I realized I needed to add another character that has some influence in the world. So came Morgensweg - Morgensweg is me. I had only planned on having those two characters, creating a sub one here and there for fun. But supply and demand - we ran out of members to RP with the new ones and I jumped in (the ever-helpful writer and admin). Zal/Zhoan did as well. Some of my characters evolved into more-complex and stepped into higher roles than perhaps I should have let them. But I was urged by fellow Rpers in many instances, and I could not back away from the ideas that flowed.
I will now list nearly every character that is controlled by me. My apologies if I ever deceived you, and specifically for letting down the Tir Rathon thread of Revolts and Revolutions. Some of these characters were odd for me to play, but it helped me write from different perspectives - please understand I never meant any ill.

And Natulcien is retiring from Wealdendun. There comes a time when things must be put to rest, especially if they cause more pain than joy. Know this - Wealdendun will never die. As I shut down the site, I will open a creative path to FINALLY finish all the books I have been working on. You must keep watch on the shelves of the bookstores, for one day a Wealdendun novel will be there, maybe even three or four.
I thank you for participating, especially the long-term members. I have so many great memories of the awesome time I have spent here. I love the people and the stories - and thank you for letting me spin them with you and share all of the different creative ideas I had swirling around.
It makes me very, very sad to have it come to this. But I can't do it any more. Zal/Zhoan realized this a whole year before me. And life moves on. I have so many things I want to do with these characters for a REAL REAL book. The motivation for RPing is no longer with me - at least for now. And as I look for more employment and events of the near future, I need less stress and more time to do the things that truly bring me joy. And I must say goodbye to the place that has been my home since 2003. I will stay in touch with all of my Wealdendun friends, certainly, and keep you posted on progress on the novels, etc.

Zal, you said exactly what I've been trying to say. Thank you. I will post more about this later (as I am really tired and have a headache). I was cryptic for a reason - sorry I confused you. Nothing having to do with me personally - mainly the partnering issue you spoke of and the frustrations thereunto, the effort and the backfiring, and the dual rps. So a bit of continued news from me! I will be moving back to the black hills either the end of July, August, middle of September it just all completely depends on when other major things happen and if we can get everything in a good straight line. I miss my mountains.

Anyway, I'm not in Lisbon right now, I'm using my shady connection from the country side. So as Mal said I won't really be back till sunday (they finally fixed my internet in lisbon yesterday).
So... yea, maybe I'll catch some of you till then but I doubt it. I may be around here everyday ranging from 4GMT to 6GMT but I'm not sure.

I did finally get ahold of Turen last night (he diddnt die!) and we came up with a few ideas that we are going to try ironing out before we really bring them out into the open. He has internet but will not really be back until sunday. I guess the thing was that Lisbon has been switching over using FiberOptics for internet and so service has been unreliable during the construction. He says that and I quote "Wealdendun will die over my dead body" or something like that lol!

Nat: Well, I'm not particularly sure altogether what you mean, though I get a few senses of what you may be refering to.
In regards to anything of your personal life I'll leave that up to you to reveal.
As far as the site goes, I didn't personally want to say anything but...might as well get it out.

Even though I left last year, the fact is life goes on. I've been vigilant on this site even when I've been gone. When I was co-admin with Natulcien we've put a considerable amount of energy in this site, but the fact is this isn't our life either, we do have other directions we are trying to reach.
We've tried times over, different advertisements, different scemes to get people active. And every year the SAME exact process happens again. In general, there no consistancy apart from being inconsistant. There are high points where members are incredibly active, and then suddenly it flat out dies! Nat and I have tried SEVERAL different ways to get things active, partnering up with members in the plots, but sadly life gets in the way several times over, and in the end we end up just playing this whole game with each other.
Now granted, even if we did close down the site, it doesn't mean the story is going to vanish from existance. Honestly we've put WAY to much effort into this to just make it vanish. Nat and I will hopefully be working on a website when the Lord permits but currently there are just many other priorities in life right now to really go after it.
Aside from those are my personal thoughts, they are indeed only my thoughts. And if anything that is just my starting point.

Next bit of news from me! It is official that I will be moving back to the Black Hills this fall or early winter. I'm excited and depressed at the same time, it will be good to be back in the mountains and see trees again. At the same time though when I moved away I NEVER wanted to move back and here I am moving back... meh oh well

We will not be deleting anyone. As for recruiting and advertising, I've tried that route many times - but I guess another attempt wouldn't be that bad. I just don't have the energy, time, or want to do it myself.

Nat, may I make a suggestion? Maybe if we did a sweep. And we give all members 2 weeks to post saying that they want to keep their characters and their accounts. At the end of the 2 week period, anyone not on the list gets deleted.
After we have cleaned everything up, we should go an a huge advertising campaign. Posting on every directory site that we can think of. In addition, I say we make our affiliate section more accessible, and noticeable. So we can start pulling some new members.
