Welcome to our Fantasy Land . Hopefully you are familiar with forum and role-playing rules, but please read the following just to guarantee that you follow our site-specific rules. Hopefully they will just be reminders for veteran role-players and clear rules for those new to the experience.
1 - Please read all topics found at All You Need to Know About Wealdendun. Most questions are already answered there. It will save you and the admins time if you familiarize yourself with the site. Most histories, information, and directions are found there.
2 - There are over 30 playable races in the world of Wealdendun. Please do not request a new race or complain to the admins about your specific race not existing. The world of Wealdendun has an extensive history with intertwining races and adding a completely new or random race most likely will not fit the story or history of the world.
3 - Please make your best effort to fit into this fantasy world. Wealdendun is not a free-for-all RP. There are certain things that are allowed and not allowed. If you have a character bio already written from another site, odds are that the general idea will fit but much of it will have to be edited to fit into the constraints here. Please read rules # 1 and #2 for more on this topic.
4 - In the areas of role playing, where all the story is in RP form, you need to post at least 200 characters. We would rather have 400 characters (100 words), but this is only implied. This 200 rule applies to threads in the Kingdoms. It does not apply to the general threads. Do not post three sentences and believe that you have done your best. We know that more effort can be made, and should be.
a. After a warning of violation of this rule, and continued violations, a deduction of post points will be put into effect.
5 - No double posting is allowed. That is to say, no back-to-back posts. You have the power to edit your posts; go back in and add things if you have to. No one has posted a response? Please wait until someone does respond. Use the PM system, or out of character general threads to draw attention. You may also post to grab their attention in your RP thread, but only after a week of no posts. You then must delete that post once someone else does come.
6 - When you role play you are writing a story, so please write complete sentences. Do not use * * around you actions. (ex. *I walk into the tavern* Well hello there! >> Instead say, Natulcien walked into the tavern, a bit out of breath from the cold weather. "Well hello there!" She exclaimed at seeing an old friend. ) It is fine to use the * * when you are not role-playing and just talking to other members on the site, even I do that. Just please don't use it in the role playing threads. Save it for the general/ooc threads. Please view the RP rules for more in-depth information.
7 - ABSOLUTELY NO GODMODING. Godmoding is hated by most role-players. What is it? It is when you control other people's characters with your writing, not letting them post about their own character's actions. You control only your character, no one else’s. Let the plot develop. There is no need to rush anything by trying to control all things. (You can ask a fellow rper if it is ok to describe their character a bit via PM. But you may only do this with their permission. You are encouraged to talk to each other to make better posts.)
a. For more RP Guidelines, please visit the Beginner's Board and Training Area. This is a good place to visit, even if you are a veteran RPer.
8 - Try to stay in-character as much as possible. This is like an RPG (role-playing-game) site. If you must speak out of character, do so with "(( & ))" around the ooc post. Please limit to two lines. We prefer you find a member interaction out of character thread to speak with other members.
9 - Be original in everything. If you steal ideas from somewhere else, obviously it's not yours for one, and then it doesn't help your creativity any. Eventually we will find out, or someone will recognize it. That's grounds for removal. Just stay original and use things as inspiration (don't adopt it as your own). Everything is inspired, but copying is frowned upon.
10 - To insure that you receive all important emails from or concerning Wealdendun, we ask that you add Wealdendun@yahoo.com and correspondence@mail1.proboards.com to your address book. This will prevent any spam blockers from accidentally filtering our emails into your bulk folders.
11 - Characters on this site belong to their owners. All other material, graphics, stories, ideas, history, etc belong to the owners of http://wealdendun.com - Natulcien and Zhaon (Kristina Walls and Angel Lopez). If material found here is duplicated elsewhere, severe repercussions will be placed into action.
12 - Having signed up for this proboards site, you agreed that you were 13 years of age. As such, we expect you to be able to use proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to utilize the spell-check tool. No adult content appears on this site, but the site is rated T for teen due to fantasy violence and some mature themes.
13 - Do not Spam. Spamming is using one or two words with a post. Even in the general threads, this is frowned upon for it 1)Does not add to the conversation, 2) Only increases your post count. These type of posts will be warned, then deleted with a deduction of your post points.
14 - Nudity/porn in avatars, signatures, or other pictures will not be tolerated. No offensive pictures, suggestions, or phrases in avatar's or other pictures. If you are unsure, contact an admin before choosing that photo.
15 - No profanity or vulgar language. Creative, non-vulgar/profane phrases are not only more entertaining, but also spark creativity and the expanding of vocabulary. Not everyone enjoys the modern slang and vile verbiage, and it is also not appropriate in fantasy.
16 - Please be kind and courteous with others. If you have a problem with a member, contact the admins but do not insult or argue within the forum. Please try to interact will all members in a pleasant manner, not ignoring people based on gender, beliefs, or in character actions etc.
17 - Please view these threads before you begin role-playing. You will find hints, help, rules and other issues for role-playing here. We also require that you write a character bio before you jump in. This will help you be able to better write and have character interactions. Please see the rules and suggestions on writing a bio found here. Without a doubt, read these. Also, please read the FAQ.
18 - You have up to three weeks to make your first post here. Unless you come back and post or send me a message telling me why you have been absent and wish to remain an active member, I will not delete you. The other moderators have the power to delete you if you have been inactive. I would like to warn each of you before that time, but as the administer, I simply don't have the time. It is your responsibility to remain active. (Active= posting at least twice a week. ) Inactive members for over three months have a high probability of being deleted. You can let members know of your absence/return by posting in the Comings and Goings thread.
19 - No registering twice because of password problems. If you have problems and need the second user name, contact an admin and they will delete your other account. Also, Wealdendun@yahoo.com is our email available for you if you are having problems on the site and cannot PM any of the admins. If you role-play as more than one character, we ask that you keep active with each you play as, otherwise we will be forced to delete them just like other inactive members.
20 - If you want to affiliate your site with us, you do not have to be a member here. Just follow the rules and instructions found on our Affiliate Me! page. If you are a member, you are not allowed to advertise your site anywhere but the Affiliate Me! page and with links in your signature. Any other advertising threads/posts will be deleted.
21 - Familiarize yourself with the site and story history, then choose a race and create a character. We hope you enjoy yourself and the staff is always available to help you.
22 - Read the FAQ for additional information and guidelines.

An issue about putting photos in your posts:
If you use the URL directly from their site, you are stealing the bandwidth they pay for. Please check the posts you make that also have pictures to see if those pictures have been replaced with either a warning or an alternate picture saying you are either hotlinking or stealing. The problem with this is they can then report our site to proboards and have it shut down. The solution? Save the pictures you want to use (that show up as an alternate image or message saying you are stealing) to your computer and upload them to your own site (if you have one) or open a free image host at one of these sites:
This will prevent anything unpleasant happening to our site. Do think about the fact that we are borrowing others photos and please be courteous. If you can explain how something looks better with words, do so. I like reading your writings better than looking at one image. Trust me.
Thanks for looking out for this issue, we wouldn't want anything negative to happen to Wealdendun.

Rated "T" for teen due to fantasy violence, complex ideas, expectation of members, and some adult subject matters . Wealdendun is a mature RPG, rated to be an intermediate through advanced level site so members should be at least thirteen years old, mature with the ability to write properly and use spell check.
