FAQ
Q: Can I have more than one character? A: Yes, given that you are active with your sub-characters but moreso with your main character. Create a seperate account for your new character and post a bio as you have done with your main character. You must have a main character you play with before you start creating many lesser character. And, of course, all characters must be approved.
Q: Do I need a new email address for every account? A: No, you can register as many accounts as you want with the same email address. Please keep in mind though you will still receive an email for every account anytime we send a mass email.
Q: Since I changed my display name, why can't I log on? A: When you change your name to a character name, such as "Natulcien", you still need to log-on with the name you originally had when you signed up (your login name). Example: You get the user name 'muchado' and then you become 'Adamina' by changing it in your profile.... your log-on name is still 'muchado' and your password hasn't changed either. (See below as well) Q: How do I change my Display Name? A: Your login name stays the same (along with your password). Click on "Profile" then "Edit". Go into your profile and change the display name to what it is that you want.
Q: I can't remember my password. Can you change it and send it to me? A: No. There is a nice little link that says "Forgot Password?" at the login screen. It will then send you the password via email. There is no need to bother the admins and mods for this. If you have serious sign-in issues, email Natulcien (wealdendun (at) yahoo(dot) com), or use the shout box on the right side of the screen.
Q: How can I get notifications when there is a post in a thread I want to watch? A: When creating or replying to a thread just check the "Bookmark" box below the message text area. Otherwise simply click the "bookmark button" at the top or bottom left of the thread. Click here to manage bookmarks: at the bottom it says "By default, when you bookmark a thread, what type of notification would you like to receive when a new post is made in that thread?" (so you set by default what kind of notification you want when bookmarking a thread, ALSO as you may notice you can change what kind of notification you want for each thread you have bookmarked) Click here to View Bookmarks
Q: How would i get a customized picture to appear? A: There are avatars listed where you modify your profile. [Click "Profile" under our logo, "Modify Profile", then use the drop down menu next to "Avatar"] If you don't like one there, you can search the web for a better picture. Save the picture to your computer, upload it to a site such as www.photobucket.com, then copy the URL into the box that says "I have my own". But if that is too hard for you, send me your picture request in a PM and I will try to find one for you. We also take Graphics Requests (see entry below for more information).
Q: Why does my post say at the bottom "Edited for violation of the decree"? A: Somehow you have gone against the rules. Please read all rules and obey them, or else posts WILL get edited and possibly deleted. The rules are found here.
Q: Something looks odd with the site, maybe a coding error. A: You can send a PM to any of the admins if you think something looks odd or wrong with the site. Typically, Wealdendun is best viewed with Mozilla Firefox internet browser. It has also been tested in Google Chrome, Opera, Apple Safari and Internet Explorer and appears to work without issues but this is not guaranteed. Our site looks best with your browser full screen, and your resolution at 1280 x 768 or 1440 x 900 (it was designed with wider screens in mind)
Q: I clicked on 'change profile', it said, 'an error has occured. The name you're using has been reserved for someone else.' A: Send me a PM and I will fix the problem on the board ASAP Q: How do I change my password? A: Go into editing your profile. The second and third white box allow you to change your password into something you remember Q: What is this PM thing? A: PM is short for "Private Message". At the top of each page apears the number of PMs you have, and that is a link to your "inbox". You can send other members messages by clicking the letter icon that appears under their avatar. Q: I registered, but I didn't get an email with my password so I can't login. A: My guess is your email has filtered it into your bulk or spam folder. Check there first. To insure that you receive all important emails from or concerning Wealdendun, we ask that you add Wealdendun@yahoo.com to your address book. This will prevent any spam blockers from accidentally filtering our emails into your bulk folders. If you still cannot find the password email, click here and enter the user name you signed up with. Your password will be sent to you via the email you registered with.
Q: I can't login, my reminder password isn't sent to me, there is nothing in my bulk folder, I've added wealdendun@yahoo.com to my address book. HELP?! A: When you have exhausted all options, use the Shout box on the right hand side of the page to leave the admins and mods a note. Please provide your user name and detail exactly what the problem is.
Q: I'm new to role-playing, and I'm just lost. How do I start? A: Don't feel bad, not all of us are born with the ability to role-play right away. We have set up a few threads just for people like you to get your character together. They are located HERE. Many questions can be answered in these threads for anyone new to an RP site. Don't be ashamed, we are here to help you.
Q: What are the races I can role play here? A: Check the first three threads HERE. These threads have a brief history of each race available as well as the location of their towns/cities. Wealdendun is our main Role Playing area, and the east and west is developing.
Q: I see people have customized signature pictures. How do I get one? A: That's easy! The Creation Team take requests in this thread and make customized signature banners (as they call them) for our members. All you have to do is post there telling them the basics of what you want (colors, pictures, themes, words, etc) on your sig picture. They are always happy to make one for you. Q: How do I make a picture appear in my signature? A: First off, you need a valid picture uploaded somewhere on the internet. You then take the URL (link) of the picture and put it like this:
Q: Can I advertise my site here? A: We have created an Affiliates Box at the bottom of the main page; a scrolling of icons. Follow the rules and post your affiliation request here. Your site must show Wealdendun's button as well. If you do not have an affiliate button pre-made for your site, she will NOT make one for you. You are free to provide links in you profile and signature to your site, but no other advertisements are allowed. To affiliate, the site must be appropriate for all ages. Q: Why did my post count suddenly change? A: Well, that could be due to a few reasons. You either violated a rule, after having been warned, and the admins took off post points because of it. You could have had a few posts deleted by yourself or admins. And the last thing; you could have continued to post repetitive posts, not adding any plot to RPs or taking away from the topic of a specific thread.
Q: When we create a character, where do we post his/her information? A: Each land has a place for the corresponding race to post their bios. For example, you are an elf of Rurisk. Click on Rurisk at the main page and it will take you to a list of threads for that land. Click on the one that sounds like it is a place to post a biography. (For the elves, it is called "Spirit of the Elves") See below for more info.
Q: How does my rank increase? A: With quality posts (posts that follow the forum rules, add to the plot of rpgs, etc) your rank will increase according to your race type. If the admins have forgotten to increase your rank, post a nice reminder here.
